LG is silently installing intrusive adware and data-harvesting software on user PCs via Windows Update when specific UltraGear monitors are connected. This practice, combined with aggressive data collection and invasive terms of service on their smart TVs, forces a dangerous choice between basic device functionality and user privacy.
Key insight: LG's monitor app installer displayed McAfee advertisements on 31 out of 32 consecutive system boots, despite the user never providing consent for the software installation.
