By masking Adcom devices with whiteout and soliciting massive government subsidies, the company orchestrated a multi-million dollar pre-order scam that ultimately led to the founder's arrest for fraud.
Key insight: Ringing Bells attempted to pass off existing Chinese-made Adcom phones as their own by literally covering the original brand logo with whiteout marker.
