Podcast and YouTube Summaries for Students

Maybe a professor assigned a podcast episode, or you learn more from a two-hour interview than from a textbook chapter. Either way, long audio is hard to skim, hard to review, and hard to quote.

Yedapo turns podcast episodes and YouTube videos into written summaries with the main ideas, key concepts, and timestamps. Preview before you listen, review before class, and find the exact moment you need to cite.

How students use it

  • Preview before you listen

Read the bottom line and key takeaways first, so you know what to listen for, or whether an episode belongs in your research at all.

  • Review before class or an exam

Takeaways and concepts bring back the main arguments in a few minutes, without replaying the whole episode.

  • Find the moment to cite

Quotes and takeaways carry timestamps. Jump to that point in the original, check the exact wording, and cite the episode itself.

  • Learn the vocabulary

Core concepts explain the terms, frameworks, and names that came up, in plain language.

  • Ask follow-up questions (Pro)

Ask AI answers questions about one episode using the episode's own content, and shows where each answer comes from.

  • Keep notes in your own system (Pro)

Export summaries to Notion, Obsidian, or Markdown and keep them next to the rest of your course notes.

How it works

  1. 1. Search for the episode or video

Look it up by title, or browse summaries by topic. Reading needs no account.

  2. 2. Read, then listen with a plan

Use the takeaways and timestamps to decide which parts to listen to closely.

  3. 3. Request what is missing

If an episode has no summary yet, a free account can request 3 new podcast summaries a day. Creating a summary for a YouTube video that is not covered yet needs Pro.

What Yedapo is not

  • It is not a lecture recorder. Yedapo cannot record your classes, and you cannot upload your own audio, video, or slides. It works with published podcast episodes and public YouTube videos.
  • It does not show full transcripts. Summary pages show the main points, short quotes, and timestamps.
  • A summary is a study aid, not a source. Summaries are written by AI and can contain mistakes, so cite the original episode, check quotes against the audio, and follow your instructor's policy on AI tools.
  • If you mostly study from PDFs, slides, and your own recordings, a study suite like NoteGPT fits better. Our Yedapo vs NoteGPT comparison covers the differences.

What is free and what is paid

  • Reading: free, with no account, for every summary that already exists.
  • Free account: 3 new podcast summaries a day, up to 3 followed shows (podcasts and YouTube channels combined), and a weekly email digest.
  • Pro, $9.99 a month: unlimited podcast and YouTube summaries, Ask-AI, unlimited followed shows, daily or per-episode email plus Telegram, and export to Notion, Obsidian, and Markdown.
  • Creating a summary for a YouTube video that is not covered yet needs Pro.
  • New episodes of the shows you follow are summarized as daily capacity allows, so a summary is not guaranteed the day an episode comes out.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI summarize a podcast episode for class?

Yes. Search Yedapo for the episode, and if a summary exists you can read it free without an account. If not, a free account can request one, with 3 new podcast summaries a day. Use the summary to prepare, then listen to the parts that matter and cite the original episode.

Can Yedapo summarize YouTube lectures?

It summarizes public YouTube videos, which include many recorded lectures and talks. Every YouTube summary that already exists is free to read. Creating a summary for a YouTube video that is not covered yet needs Pro. Yedapo cannot summarize recordings of your own classes, because it does not accept uploads.

Is it OK to use AI summaries for school?

That depends on your school and your instructor, so check the course policy first. As a study aid, a summary helps you preview and review. It does not replace the source: summaries are written by AI and can contain errors, so quote and cite the original episode.

Is there a student discount?

No, Yedapo does not have a separate student plan. Reading summaries that already exist is free with no account, and a free account adds 3 new podcast summaries a day, up to 3 followed shows (podcasts and YouTube channels combined), and a weekly email digest. Pro is $9.99 a month.

Can I export summaries to Notion or Obsidian?

Yes, on Pro. Export to Notion, Obsidian, or Markdown is part of Pro, along with unlimited summaries. Ask AI is part of Pro.
